THE 90’S COMEBACK
You may have seen them on the heads of your favourite TV stars more than 20 years ago. Jackie in That 70’s show, Phoebe in Friends, Blair Waldorf in Gossip girl… they all adopted them!
In the 90s, barrettes were a popular fashion accessory and very common, especially among teenage girls. Hair clips from that era were often colourful, with designs of flowers, stars or hearts, or butterflies. They tended to layer them on top of each other, whether or not they were in different colours or patterns, to create an original look.
Today, the barrette trend has made a comeback, and the colourful, fancy barrettes of the 1990s are back in fashion. However, the designs and styles have been updated to suit current trends. Whereas they used to bring a wise girl look, today the hair clip has a different purpose. It is no longer a teenage look that they give but a chic and refined look that many women tend to show. Influencers have not been able to resist the call of the hair clip since it has been on the catwalk with the big boys.

There are many ways to wear a hair clip, depending on the style you want to create and the type of hair clip you use. Here are some ideas for wearing a hair clip:
🌸 Use a barrette to hold a strand of hair to the side or back of the head: take one to two strands of hair from the side and secure them with a barrette. This can be done at any level, from near the ear to behind the head, depending on the length of your hair and the effect you want to create. This hairstyle will elegantly unclutter your face while highlighting your pretty hair left free.
🌸 The barrette to close a ponytail or bun: take the hair on top of your head and pull it back, then secure it with a barrette. This will give a rather basic hairstyle a nice touch of fantasy. The clips on our hair clips make it easy to do this hairstyle.
🌸 Barrette to decorate a hairstyle: Place a barrette decoratively in one part of your hairstyle, such as on a braid, ponytail or a hairstyle with curls.
